Welcome to our Apiary! Zaki Bees has about 20 decoratively painted hives in our backyard “bee paradise” in the Great Neck area of Virginia Beach, VA. We began keeping bees in 2010 because we love gardening and nature. Our Alanton garden has many flowers and fruit trees that bloom throughout the year, including in-ground cold-hardy citrus. Zaki Bees’ honey is raw and unfiltered. This means that, after extracting, our honey is only strained through a fine sieve. It is never heated or finely filtered so as to preserve the natural yeasts & pollens and maximize health benefits. People with allergies benefit the most from honey that is local to the area they live in.
We also make and sell solid lotion bars (made from our beeswax and other natural ingredients), pure beeswax candles, and soaps. We are members of the Virginia Beach Bee Club, Tidewater Beekeepers Association, and the Virginia State Beekeepers Association. Our apiary was chosen in August 2021 for taking samples for a nationwide study of pollen and its chemical composition. In 2019 we won the Best Tasting Honey award at the Tidewater Beekeepers Association Honey Tasting contest. We can’t wait for the next competition!
